Juvenile ClubThe club currently caters for 15 Under age teams from U-8 to U-16.Last year for the first time the club fielded a ladies football team to add to their camogie teams that have been running for some time. This year the hard work of the Juvenile Committee over the past few years began to pay dividends with our U-14s winning both the football and hurling championships and being narrowly beaten by a strong Barrs team in the Lord Mayors Shield. In the County the U-14s beat Newcestown in the Quarter Final but were beaten by Croke Rovers in the Semi-Final. Star player Ricky Higgins came to the attention of the Cork Selectors and was selected to play full back on the Cork and Seandun U-14 teams this year. The U-14 footballers are still involved in the county and will play Fr.O'Neills in the semi-final after beating Castletownbere in the Q-Final. Our U-16s also did well beating Blackrock after extra time to win their football championship. The U-11 footballers also had a successful year reaching the final of the John Kearns Memorial Shield in Pairc Ui Rinn. All this success stems from successful street leagues which have been running for the past few years. This years was the biggest so far with over 150 children taking part. The highlight for the children was the appearance of the Cork Hurling Legend Brian Corcoran on the final day with the Liam McCarthy Cup. With the high level of talent on show this year at Juvenile level, it wont be long before Passage will be playing at the highest levels. |
